Three including father and son die of electric shock

Tamenglong, October 23 2010: Three persons including a father and son were killed and three others were injured in an incident of electrict shock at Duigailong village yesterday around 10.45 pm.

Post mortem was conducted at Tamenglong district morgue today and the dead bodies have been accepled by the families and the last rituals were conducted today.

Duigailong village is located just two kilometres from Tamenglong District HQs under Tamenglong police station.

The deceased persons are AG.

Lungthuiyang 43 serving in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Tamenglong and his son AG Pouduangaiyang aged 13 studying in class VII in Don Bosco high School Tamenglong and G.Ajon @ Mathiujuanang Gonmei son of Namdijnang of Duigailong.

They were all killed in their respective house last night.

The injured persons have been identified as Chingkhiulung Gonmei-18 son of Keiniu, Kalingchakpou Gangmei 6 son of Daikhang Gangmei and Namdikhamang Gonmei 29 son of Namgaklung of the same villages.

Many others also reported receiving electric shock's but they escaped serious injuries.

The incident happened when the deceased and the injured persons tried to unplug the main fuses and unplug the electric connection of the inverters in their respective homes.

Sparks out came from the electric wires and sockets.

Eyewitness said that all electric devices were sparkling.

Hueiyenlanpao News Service learns that the unwanted incident happen due to negligence on the part of electricity department.

The power over load occured when the low tension (LT) line burned away the plastic pipe covering the wires, and the naked wire touched the electric post where the transformer.

The transformer had no sockets to control the electrical surge and the drop fuse was so big and it failed to control the electrical surge.

The sparkling and blasting started around 10: 45 pm last night.

Memorandums were submitted to Chief Minister, O Ibobi Singh demanding, immediate necessary help to the deceased and injured persons, immediate replacement of the transformer at Duigailong, checking all other transformers installed at Tamenglong District HQ and to amend the defects.

The memo gives 30 days to answertheir demands.

The memo was signed by Mathiusang Panmei, Co-ordinator, Zeliangrong Student Union Tamenglong District, Wiramang Newmai, Vice-Co-ordinator, ZSUTD, Thuiriang Panmei, General Secretary, ZYF.
