Meinya recalls teachers' role in shaping students

Imphal, October 23 2010: The great role of teachers in producing ideal students who will be the pillars of the future was recalled by MP Dr T Meinya who spoke as chief guest of the 3rd foundation day celebration of the Imphal east Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalaya, Yaralpat.

The MP observed that education is the backbone for advancement of a better society for tomorrow.

"We need students of today to be made worthy.

To produce worthy students is the task of teachers.

Teachers should understand this and teach students with heart and soul" .

The Centre is giving special emphasis in the development of the north eastern region of the country by setting up a separate ministry, Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).

Manipur is also getting a special package for development of human resources.

There is no dearth of funds in this ministry.

"The only thing we need is sincerity in the utilization of funds," he said.

MLA Ng Bijoy who attended the function as guest of honour said that there is no limit in learning.

Students must study hard and make themselves compatible to the society.

Not only the teachers but creation of a good academic atmosphere is a must for making students worthy citizens of the future.

Principal of the vidyalaya presided the celebration function.

Presentation of dances, songs and other entertainment programmes by the students marked the concluding function.
